Cooler, drier weather moving into Gulf Coast region as cold front arrives
Dec 18, 2024
NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — A cold front is set to move through the area tonight, bringing cooler temperatures and much drier air over the next several days.
Temperatures will dip into the low 50s overnight as the front sweeps through, and Thursday will bring sunny skies with highs only reaching the low 60s.
This cooler trend will continue into the weekend, with morning lows dropping to around 40 degrees Friday night and daytime highs in the mid-50s through Sunday. The dry air will also keep rain chances near zero through the weekend, giving the region a break from the recent warm and humid conditions.
Looking ahead, another cold front is expected to arrive late Friday, reinforcing the chilly weather. Some northern areas could see freezing or near-freezing temperatures overnight, while daytime highs remain in the 50s.
While this front won’t bring any rain, the forecast shows the possibility of showers early next week as yet another system moves through.
