Kamehameha Warriors alum, Chavis Lee, just finished his second year of college football at George Fox University. This season, Lee finished with 16 receptions, 251 yards and 2 touchdowns. But getting to the point of playing football in college wasn't easy for the wide receiver. During his Junior year of high school at Kamehameha, Lee almost had to give up the sport he loves, as Lee was diagnosed with a blood clot in the brain. "I went up to Utah for the Polynesian football camp. During that time, the whole time my head was like pounding like bad. My race out of my body was like, I'll get like numb sometimes. So I was like, This is yeah, this is bad," said Lee. After going to the doctor once, the pain didn't stop and that's when he knew he had to go in. "I had to schedule, like a CT scan, and an MRI. Then that's when they told me that I had a blood clot in the back of my head," said Lee. The current George Fox wide receiver sat out his whole junior season, and after the injury bug went away, Lee was able to get back onto the field. "Looking back on my high school career, I could have kept asking 'why me, why me' or whatever. And I could have just pouted. But honestly, I'm super grateful for going through that because I feel like it just made me a stronger person. Like more mentally tough. Every day now, like when I practice over here at George Fox, I'm just more grateful," said Lee. Lee's goals for next season is to battle for a starting role and help George Fox improve on their 4-6 record this season.
