EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) - The City of El Paso will host a groundbreaking ceremony on Thursday morning, Dec. 19, for the Medical Center of the Americas (MCA) Health Clinic project.
The ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. on Dec. 19, at the future MCA Health Clinic site, 4240 Alameda Ave.
The significant project, which is set to transform health services in the community, includes the construction of a new 10,500-square-foot health clinic, the City said in a news release.
The City said the new clinic, operated by the Department of Public Health, is projected to serve approximately 10,000 community members annually.
It will offer critical services, including:
HIV prevention
Sexual health services
Tuberculosis diagnosis and treatment
“This new facility will allow the Department of Public Health to deliver essential clinical services to members of the community who otherwise might not be able to access such care,” health director Dr. Veerinder Taneja said. “El Paso Community Clinics are vital components of our department, addressing one of the community's greatest needs — access to care. These clinics provide preventative screenings and ensure individuals receive necessary medical treatment.”
"With an approximate budget of $9 million, this project is funded by a grant from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA). It reflects the City of El Paso’s steadfast commitment to fostering a healthy and sustainable community," read the news release.
