MADERA, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - A man was found guilty by a jury Tuesday for kidnapping and sexually assaulting a Madera woman in March, the Madera Police Department said.
Police say Otis McKinzy, a registered sex offender, moved to Madera two weeks prior to kidnapping and sexually assaulting a woman in Madera on March 20.
No charges filed for officer in 2022 Fresno shooting, DOJ says
According to police, McKinzy was living in his car near the victim's home. McKinzy kidnapped and carjacked the victim using a sharp object and then sexually assaulted her.
Investigators say McKinzy then drove north with the woman in the trunk of her car before pulling over in a field near Merced where officers say he assaulted her.
Police say the victim escaped in a town north of Madera. McKinzy was then located and arrested approximately five hours after the escape of the victim by the Elk Grove Police Department, according to police.
According to police, McKinzy stood trial in Madera County Superior Court for charges of kidnap and sexual assault.
Officials report he was found guilty by a jury Tuesday and could face up to 150 years in prison.
McKinzy served a prior prison term of 24 years after he was convicted of rape in 1997, police said. He was released in 2021.
McKinzy will be sentenced on Jan. 16, 2025.
