Fresno County vendors can receive thousands for free

FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - The first round of mobile food vendors to receive free money for their businesses was celebrated at an event in Fresno Wednesday morning.
The Fresno Area Hispanic Foundation (FAHF) held a ceremony to recognize the recipients of the ARPA Mobile Vendor grant program funds.
In Wednesday's ceremony, 10 vendors received grants of up to $4,000.
"All the mobile food vendors are given the process that we have in order for them to qualify for this [grant] and they are at their own pace. So we help them, we guide them through the process, but one of the most important parts is that they have the county's health permit in order for them to operate in the county of Fresno," said President and CEO of FAHF Dora Westerlund.
While supporting local small businesses was a part of this initiative, she says it also encourages vendors to feel safe, as the process to receive the grant makes it so all businesses have the right permits and are within county guidelines.
Westerlund says there is still $275,000 left to fund mobile food vendors. The money will be available until it has been awarded.
"Businesses, licensing, permits— all of what's needed for [businesses] to operate, we're able to help them and assist them," Westerlund said.
Any mobile food vendors or small business owners interested in receiving funding are encouraged to call the FAHF at 559-222-8705 to get the process started.
