Low overcast to the east mixed out this afternoon with high pressure building into the region. This weather feature will clear us out, drop the wind and keep us cooler tonight.   Overnight, the wind flow will return from the south.  Temperatures will step into the freezer before warming Thursday afternoon.   Highs will favor the 50s with a few 60s thrown into the mix before the next front sags southward Thursday night.   There will be a stronger push of colder air on Friday.  Highs in some parts of Kansas will struggle to warm out of the 30s.  Temperatures will be greatly divided from significantly colder to the northeast and milder in the extreme southwest corner of our viewing area.  This warmth will spread through western Kansas first and gradually shift east through the rest of the state over the weekend.  Clear skies will dominate with a few clouds around at times. Warmer than average temperatures will be the trend into Christmas week.     One storm system on Monday tries to develop rain showers East of the Turnpike before departing.   Highs from the 40s through the 60s will last into Christmas.   A stronger storm system tracks through the area after the holiday.  Depending on timing, track and degree of moisture readily available, rain and storms will be possible for portions of the Plains, including Kansas.  If enough moisture is left once the colder air comes in, then some snow may be possible farther west.  Overall, this looks like a rainy system for the core of the country rather than a snowy one. Please continue to stay updated as we get closer.   KSN Storm Track 3 Forecast from Chief Meteorologist Lisa Teachman:Wichita:Tonight: Mostly clear. Lo: 27 Wind: NW/S 5-15Tomorrow: Mostly sunny.
