Holyoke tax bills rise despite lower tax rate
Dec 18, 2024
HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) - Despite a reduction in the rate -- Holyoke homeowners will be paying higher property tax bills next year.
Mayor Joshua Garcia said the City Council voted Tuesday night to reduce the tax rates for both residential and commercial properties. However, the average single-family home tax bill will still increase by about $300 or $25 per month.
Mayor Garcia said the increase is primarily driven by rising residential property values, coupled with higher costs for insurance, schools, transportation, and contractual obligations.
