ATTLEBORO, Mass. (WLNE) — The Department of Justice said an Attleboro man, who is a level 1 sex offender, was arraigned in court Wednesday for possession of child sexual abuse material charges. Eric Brault, 31, was charged with possession of child pornography on Dec. 18 after an investigation involving Attleboro police. On Wednesday morning, police searched Brault’s residence after an investigation of an online application used for the tracking of CSAM identified Brault as a “likely user” of a group that shared CSAM. On Brault’s phone, police discovered he was allegedly a member of several groups that exchanged CSAM, and claimed to have found what police believe to be over 200 CSAM video and image files in a photo album, according to the DOJ. Previously, Brault was convicted and sentenced to 18 months probation for indecent assault and battery on a child under 14-years-old. According to the DOJ, Brault faces a minimum sentence of 10 years with the possibility of up to 20 years in prison, at least five years and up to a lifetime of supervised release, and a fine up to $250,000.
