NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE) — New Bedford police said it made another arrest this week for a fugitive that led to the seizure of a gun and “sizeable amount of narcotics.”
Marc Anthony Suarez, 29, is charged for “a number of serious offenses,” including possession of a large-capacity firearm and ammunition without a license, trafficking over 100 grams of cocaine, and trafficking over 36 grams of fentanyl, in addition to charges associated with a previous warrant.
On Dec. 17, police were searching for Suarez, who had an active warrant for gun-related charges, after receiving information that he was staying at an apartment on County Street.
At the scene, officers established a perimeter around the building, and police said they saw objects wrapped in a white cloth being thrown out of the apartment window.
Police then entered the apartment and took Suarez into custody.
Further investigation showed the objects thrown out the window were fentanyl, cocaine, a loaded Glock 19 handgun, and 14 rounds of ammunition, according to police.
Inside the apartment, police allegedly seized additional narcotics, packaging materials, a digital scale, and $1,690 in cash.
In total, New Bedford police claimed it confiscated over 140 grams of cocaine and over 39 grams of fentanyl.
Police said Suarez was also convicted of firearm possession in 2022 and possession with intent to distribute a class “A” substance in 2019.
