Strong wind tomorrow; warming weekend
Dec 18, 2024
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) -- Another windy day is on the way…
Before an Alberta Clipper comes in from the northwest, we’ll have relatively calm conditions tonight as temperatures fall to the 20s. Parts of central and eastern KELOLAND will be watched for a wintry mix, including freezing drizzle/freezing rain.
As the clipper moves into Minnesota tomorrow, we’ll have a warm surge of air move into southern and southeast KELOLAND. Temperatures will jump to the 30s and 40s for these locations early in day. We’ll see how much moisture gets wrapped up in the system as a wintry mix will be possible in eastern KELOLAND. Be prepared for changing weather conditions.
Winds will be a big story for tomorrow. Northerly winds will gust to 40-50 mph or more for central and eastern KELOLAND. With the recent snow, blowing snow may be an issue for eastern KELOLAND. Pay attention to the changing weather conditions tomorrow.
The wind will bring in much colder air for Friday. There will be parts of northeast South Dakota that will stay in the single digits for highs. Afternoon numbers will rach the 40s in southwest KELOLAND.
We’ll slowly warm for this weekend and into the first half of next week. Expect mostly dry skies after tomorrow.
