Slidell man sentenced in Jan. 6 U.S. Capitol breach investigation

SLIDELL, La. (WGNO) — A Slidell man has been sentenced after pleading guilty to charges related to the Jan. 6, 2021, U.S. Capitol breach.
The U.S. Attorney's Office reported that 30-year-old Charles Tyler Himber was sentenced to four months in prison with 36 months of supervised release on Dec. 12.

He previously pled guilty to obstruction of law enforcement during a civil disorder in July.
Court documents state that Himber participated in the "Stop the Steal" on Jan. 6, 2021, in Washington D.C., where he and others reportedly pushed against police to try to get inside the Capitol.
The district attorney's office reported that Himber and others pushed their way into the building before being removed by police.

Court documents state Himber also climbed onto an armored truck and made posts to Facebook stating, "Were in," "Making history" and "Storm in Capitol Hill is a go…draining the swamp manually…Evacuating Capitol Hill pushing back."
Himber was arrested on Feb. 16, 2024.
