On December 16, MCSO deputies say they responded to a disturbance report involving an armed man acting violently in the 300 block of Fern Drive around 10:30 p.m.
When deputies arrived at the scene, they said they heard a gunshot and then came in contact with 80-year-old Robert Harrison who was armed.

During that time, deputies say Harrison refused to drop the weapon and comply with verbal commands. That is when a deputy is accused of firing his weapon, striking Harrison.
Harrison was then taken to a hospital where he later died.
No deputies were reported injured.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is now investigating the case.
