MINOT, ND (KXNET) — A structure fire broke out in a home in the Wheatland Village Community this afternoon, leaving the occupant with minor smoke inhalation. According to the Minot Fire Department, at about 3:03 p.m. today, firefighters were dispatched to a structure fire in the Wheatland Village Community on the 5100 block of 16th Ave. When firefighters arrived, the building had heavy smoke coming out, and they confirmed that the sole occupant and a dog safely made it out. Crews from all five stations worked to bring the blaze under control, and the occupant was treated on the scene for minor smoke inhalation.The cause of the fire remains under investigation. The Minot Fire Department reminds people of the importance of fire safety and preparedness.
