Swearingin ceremony held for Tehachapi councilmembers, Mayor

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- On Monday evening, the Tehachapi City Council celebrated the newest councilmembers who took the oath of office to begin their terms of service.
Joan Pogon-Cord was unanimously elected as Mayor, while Jeanette Pauer was unanimously elected as Mayor Pro-Tem. Both of the positions are two-year terms, with nominations and voting conducted by the five elected councilmembers.

“I am delighted and honored to serve my favorite city – I’ve been to a lot of places, but there’sno place like home," said Mayor Pogon-Cord. "I hope to serve the community I love with humility and care."
In addition to the appointments, several councilmembers were sworn in, including Michael Davies, Hannah Chung, Tori Marsh, Marianna Gutierrez, and Phil Smith.
