Columbus man who traded child abuse material gets 35 years in prison

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) -- A 38-year-old Columbus man who pleaded guilty to sharing and acquiring child abuse materials has been sentenced to federal prison.
Jeremiah Morrison, a registered sex offender, received a 35-year prison sentence after being charged with possessing and distributing material depicting child torture in exchange for child sex abuse material, according to the U.S. Court in the Southern District of Ohio.

Morrison has been ordered to pay $3,000 of restitution to each victim and will remain under court supervision for life. A Franklin County crime unit was received tips about Morrison sharing child sex abuse material in April 2023.
Investigators received a search warrant in June 2023 and found more 3,900 photos and videos of child torture and sex abuse material on Morrison's cell phone. He obtained the images and videos from the dark web, per U.S. Attorney Kenneth L. Parker.
Authorities indicted and arrested Morrison in September 2023 before he pleaded guilty in April. Before the search warrant was executed, Morrison was convicted for filming a child without his consent in 2012.
