The Ohio Department of Transportation announced it is proposing a project to increase safety and efficiency at the intersection of U.S Route 422 and Rapids Road in Troy Township and will be hosting an open house meeting to further discuss the project on Jan. 9. The project will add a left-turn lane at each approach on Route 422 and improve the signals with the intention of addressing rear-end crashes at the intersection, according to a news release. Traffic would be maintained using part-width construction with two 10-foot lanes, one eastbound and one westbound. Construction is estimated to begin in summer 2027 and estimated to be completed that fall. Utility relocation work could begin as early as winter 2026, the release stated. Right-of-way acquisition will be required. The Jan. 9 meeting, which will include BG Engineering will run from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Adam Hall Community Center, 11455 E. Washington St. in Auburn Township. The project’s current estimated construction cost is $2 million. ODOT is seeking public input regarding this project.
