AAA Bluegrass: 93 percent of Kentuckians traveling for holidays will do so by automobile
Dec 18, 2024
The holiday travel season is upon us and the public affairs manager for Triple-A Bluegrass estimates 93 percent of Kentuckians will go by automobile between Friday and New Year’s Day. Lori Weaver Hawkins said motorists should check their vehicle’s maintenance schedule and pay special attention to tire pressure.
“I remind folks, tires are the only thing standing between you and the road, not only is it safer for you, help you get the road better, but it also helps you get the most out of every gallon of gasoline.”
Weaver Hawkins offered an old-fashioned tip to make sure tire treads are up to snuff using a Washington quarter.
“Turn the quarter so that Washington’s top of his head is pointed downward. Put that into the tread of your tire. If you can see the top of George Washington’s head, you do not have adequate tread on those tires.”
Hawkins said overall, 1.5 million Kentuckians are expected to travel over the holidays.
