STATESVILLE, N.C. (WGHP) — Someone in the Tar Heel State became a multimillionaire on Tuesday night!
A $3 Mega Millions ticket purchased via Online Play in Statesville matched numbers on all five white balls to win $1 million. The ticket was also a Megapiler ticket, which quadrupled the lucky winner's prize up to $4 million.
The $4 million prize was the biggest win in the entire country as no one won the jackpot. The odds of matching all five white balls are 1 in 12.6 million.
Additionally in North Carolina, a Davidson County woman won $100,000 with a $3 Powerball ticket.
"The girl at the store told me, ‘You did it," Frances Pressley of Southmont recalled. "I was shaking as I walked back to my car.”
Pressley bought her winning Quick Pick ticket from Southmont Grocery on NC 8 in Lexington.
She plans on paying some bills and doing some work around her house with her winnings.
After taxes, Pressley walked away with $71,501.
