Mother protects child from kidnapping in Walmart parking lot in North Carolina

RAEFORD, N.C. (WNCN) — A child was saved by their mother from being taken by a strange man in dark clothing out of a Walmart parking lot in Raeford, deputies said.
According to the Hoke County Sheriff's Office, which is investigating the incident, deputies were called around 6:30 p.m. Monday to the parking lot of the Walmart on 4545 Fayetteville Road.
As deputies describe, the mother and child were in the parking lot when the man "attempted to reach inside of the vehicle where the child was."
In response, deputies said the mother was able to stop him from getting to her child. She then quickly left the area with her child.
No one sustained injuries in the near-kidnapping, the sheriff's office said.
