FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - An investigation is underway involving a captain with the Fort Wayne Police Department. Captain Kevin Hunter, who headed up the department's Hope and Recovery Team (HART), was temporarily reassigned over an "ongoing investigation into allegations of misconduct," according to FWPD spokesperson Cpt. Jeremy Webb. It's unclear who is leading the investigation; the nature of the allegations has not been confirmed. There is an ongoing investigation into allegations of misconduct against Cpt. Hunter. The Fort Wayne Police Department takes any potential impropriety seriously. During the investigation, Cpt. Hunter has been temporarily reassigned to a lateral position in operations. There will be no punitive action against Cpt. Hunter until the investigation is concluded.  The HART team will continue with minimal interruptions and will be expanded in the future. The FWPD works tirelessly to maintain the high standards of integrity and honesty the public expects from its police department." Jeremy Webb, FWPD Public Information Captain HART is "a mobile response team that seeks out and actively engages residents of Allen County to support them on their road to recovery with addiction from opioids and stimulants," according to the website. Hunter ran for Allen County Sheriff in 2022, a role that Troy Hershberger won. Hunter also recently vied for a seat on Allen County Council but was not elected.
