EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The motorcyclist who died earlier this month after he flew off of his motorcycle at the Spaghetti Bowl in Central El Paso has been identified, and El Paso Police are saying he was located in a large body of water, 47 feet below the location of the crash.
Motorcyclist seriously hurt in crash at Spaghetti Bowl
Police say they responded just before 10 p.m. on Tuesday night, Dec. 3, to investigate a motorcycle crash at U.S. 54 South also known as the Spaghetti Bowl at the Ramp K overpass.
Tyler Christopher Jones, 28, was located in a reservoir or a large body of water, 47 feet below the location of the crash, according to police.
Police say the initial investigation revealed that Jones was traveling south on U.S. 54 and began to take the exit to I-10 West and while doing so, failed to negotiate the curve and struck the side concrete barrier. He was then dislodged from his motorcycle and fell into the reservoir.
Jones was rushed to the hospital in critical condition and on Friday, Dec. 6, the medical examiner's office contacted investigators saying that Jones had died as a result of his injuries sustained in the crash.
The Special Traffic Investigations unit was called out to investigate the crash.
Police say this is the 65th traffic fatality as compared to 75 at this same time last year.
