CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD)—The Charleston Police Department encourages patience while traveling around the community this holiday season. The agency has responded to multiple calls regarding road rage incidents. One man was charged on Monday following a road rage encounter that happened on Savannah Highway earlier in the month. Shawn Delacy, 41, was charged with pointing and presenting a firearm at a person in that case. A 44-year-old Charleston woman, identified as Jennifer Brown, was charged with assault and battery for allegedly presenting a firearm during a road rage incident in the parking lot of a Savannah Highway restaurant on December 14. Just days earlier police responded to I-526 after getting reports that a person was pointing a firearm at a victim during a road rage incident. That case is still under investigation. The department is also investigating a deadly shooting on Savannah Highway that detectives believe started as a road rage shooting on Oct. 3, and on Nov. 30 they responded to reports of shots being fired into a vehicle during a road rage incident on Pail Cantrell Blvd. near I-26. That case also remains under investigation. “The Charleston Police Department encourages everyone to prioritize safety, patience, and courtesy on the road this holiday season,” the agency said. “A moment of calm can prevent a lifetime of regret.” Police say if you encounter an aggressive driver, or feel unsafe, you should avoid confrontation and call 911 immediately. “We can work together to ensure our roadways remain safe for all,” police said. Anyone who witnessed one of these road rage cases mentioned above can contact the Charleston Police Department by calling 843-720-2422 and asking for the on-duty central detectives.
