BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- A woman who forced her teen girlfriend to prostitute herself at the Desert Star Motel -- abusing the girl when she fell asleep -- was not in court for sentencing Wednesday due to medical reasons, a judge said.
Javonna Lewis's sentencing hearing was postponed to Jan. 7. She faces life in prison without the possibility of parole.

The delay will give defense attorney Gregory Mitts time to review a probation report he received Tuesday.
In October, a jury found Lewis, 26, guilty of human trafficking and pimping of a minor, torture, forcible penetration and enhancements for aggravated kidnapping, great bodily injury and personal use of a deadly weapon.
The abuse occurred in December 2020. The victim, then 17, was reunited with her family in Fresno.
