AUSTIN (KXAN) — At least three people were injured after a CapMetro vehicle rolled over in south Austin Wednesday morning, according to Austin-Travis County EMS. The Austin Fire Department posted on X at 10:31 a.m. that firefighters were working to remove passengers from vehicles in the area of South First Street and West William Cannon Drive, according to the post. AFD said it found the CapMetro vehicle on its side, "pinching" a sedan. A third vehicle had "some head-on damage to it," AFD fire specialist Andrew Ramon said. The two people in the CapMetro vehicle are believed to be employees, AFD said. AFD said they were both able to leave the vehicle on their own. Officials didn't release the cause of the crash. ATCEMS said three people were taken to a south Austin hospital with injuries — one with serious injuries and others with minor injuries. CapMetro confirmed to KXAN around 10:40 a.m. that it was one of their vehicles involved in the incident. The transit agency released a statement on the crash. "An incident involving a CapMetro vehicle occurred earlier this morning after 10:20 a.m. near William Canon and S. 1st Street. CapMetro is coordinating with the Austin Police Department (APD), Fire Department (AFD), and Austin-Travis County EMS, who responded to the incident. An investigation is still ongoing," the statement read. A CapMetro vehicle rolled over at South First Street and West William Cannon Drive on Dec. 18, 2024.
