9 people hurt, 1 dead in shooting at Towson funeral home, police say

TOWSON, Md. (DC News Now) -- Baltimore County police are investigating a mass shooting at a funeral home in Towson that killed one person and left multiple people hurt on Tuesday evening.
The Baltimore County Police Department (BCPD) said the shooting happened in the 8500 block of Loch Raven Blvd. at around 7:15 p.m.

During a news conference, BCPD Police Chief Robert McCullough said the first responding officer found a car on its side that had caught on fire.
McCullough said officers then found multiple victims at the scene.
One person died and nine others were taken to various nearby hospitals for treatment.
"This is considered a mass shooting," officials with the police department wrote in a post on X, formerly Twitter.
Officers also found multiple gunshots in the facade of the funeral home building and in nearby neighborhoods.

"We will leave no stone unturned and we will dedicate every resource to this," McCullough said during the news conference.
BCPD believes the shooting was a targeted incident and there was no threat to the public.
The investigation is ongoing.
