ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — A Rochester business owner pleaded guilty to tax evasion Tuesday after prosecutors said he failed to file tax returns for the tax years 2017 through 2022. Scott Reeves, 72, of Victor owns Fussy Contracting Inc. (Mr. Fussy), a roofing business located on Portland Avenue in Rochester. According to prosecutors, Reeves was paid for his services mostly by check, which was then deposited to bank accounts. He also cashed some at a local check casher. Man sentenced for tax fraud in connection to his company’s yacht During the tax years of 2017 through 2022, Reeves was required to pay income taxes, however prosecutors said he never filed his individual income tax returns for those years, nor his income tax returns for the corporation. Reeves never reported gross receipts of more than $5 million. After paying several expenses and fees related to his work, prosecutors said he pocketed the remaining $1.5 million. $248,394 of taxes were never paid to the IRS. The maximum punishment for this crime is five years of prison time and a $250,000 fine. Reeves is scheduled to be sentenced March 3.
