NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (WWLP) - This holiday season, two local businesses are making sure that children without a home still get a visit from Santa. The owners of the gym, F45 picked up toys from a Northampton toy store earlier Tuesday afternoon, so these children can have gifts to open up on Christmas. "It's so great to see the local community come together and really help those in need any time of the year but in particular through the holidays," said Director of Development for Way Finders, Megan Pete. The holiday season is a time for giving back and spreading joy. And the gym, F45 located in Hadley and West Springfield, did just that. For the second year in a row, they teamed up with A2Z Science & Learning Toy Store in Northampton to purchase toys for unhoused children served by Way Finders, a non-profit dedicated to providing affordable housing and supportive programs throughout western Massachusetts. "It's always been our motto to be the difference you want to see in the world and come forward and try to make an impact where you can and we're really grateful to have hundreds of members at f45 that feel the same way," expressed Co-Owner of F45 Training Hampshire Meadows and F45 Training Riverdale, Jessye Deane. The F45 training fitness community stepped up to help provide 50 Christmas gifts for children in the area and A2Z donated a yo-yo for each child. This comes after F45 noticed that Way Finders, lost their primary national toy donor for its annual giving program. "This really relieves the burden for a lot of these families who are having to make those tough choices about where to spend their limited resources," said Pete. "It's a really hard time for families and we're really glad that we can spread some cheer in people's lives," added Co-owner of A2Z Science & Learning Toy Store in Northampton, Devon Boulay. All the toys collected will support the nearly 700 children in Way Finders family shelters. "The need for housing is tremendous, we continue to see an increase of calls coming in, just asking for help," said Pete. If you want to get involved and make a difference for those facing housing challenges, Way Finders is always accepting donations. To donate, click here.
