Driver sent to hospital after crashing into telephone pole in Southampton

SOUTHAMPTON, Mass. (WWLP) - A motor vehicle accident on College Highway Tuesday afternoon resulted in minor injuries after a driver suffered a medical emergency, causing their vehicle to crash into two telephone poles.
According to the Southampton Fire Department, crews were called at approximately 4 p.m., where they found a single vehicle involved in the crash.

The driver was extricated from the vehicle and brought to a nearby hospital for treatment of minor injuries. According to first responders, the medical emergency caused the vehicle to lose control and strike the utility poles.
As of 7 p.m., Engine 3 remains at the scene, as the car is stuck in one of the poles. Crews are awaiting Eversource to secure the damaged poles before the vehicle can be towed.
As of now, a portion of College Highway remains closed between East Street and Clark Street. Residents are advised to avoid the area and seek alternative routes.
