ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The first micro-community in Albuquerque helping those facing addiction is making major headway. City officials said the 46 pallets that will serve as homes for those getting clean arrived at Gateway Recovery earlier this month. The foundations for each pallet are currently being laid.

The spaces will not only give residents a place to focus on their sobriety after rehab but will offer a place of community and resources. "Research really tells us that if we can keep people on the track of sobriety for 18 to 24 months, they're much more likely to be successful," said Gateway Operations Officer Jennifer McDonald.
Officials said the medical sobering center at Gateway will open later this month.
