A parade of clippers will affect KELOLAND
Dec 17, 2024
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) -- Tuesday's snow is due to a system to our south that moved through Nebraska and Iowa. Strong enough to bring accumulating snow to parts of KELOLAND. Over the next several days, we'll watch for systems to come in from the northwest.

Those types of systems are known as Alberta Clippers because they originate in the Canadian providence of Alberta.
We have two that we will watch for in the forecast. One comes in Thursday to bring in a wintry mix of precipitation as well as strong wind. That wind may be strong enough to create blowing snow and reduced visibility.
The next one comes in Friday night into Saturday. This one will bring in a chance for light snow and strong wind. Pay attention to blowing snow again leading into Saturday morning.
After our parade of clippers, we'll enter a dry period with warming temperatures for Christmas week.
