KANSAS CITY, Kan. -- One local vendor at the Jingle! holiday event is getting her money back after a personal call from the CEO of the company. “We work hard, try not to get emotional, I work really hard, excuse me. It's been a disaster here and just want my money back,” Maryah Jennings said. After a couple of weeks at the pop-up holiday experience, Jennings described the experience as disastrous. Lawrence restaurant on video showing employee cutting meat on pavement From opening a week late, to snow with no planned snow removal, the operation has been less than smooth leading at least one vendor to pull out altogether. When we first connected with Maryah Jennings, she was at her witts end as much of what she says vendors were promised, was not delivered upon. Videos show sparse crowds attending the event. This after organizers said wind and a port strike forced them to delay opening by a week. "I betted on them to be my big come-up for the holidays and that is not what happened. I thought it was magical by what they advertised, what they show in the videos it looked so magical,” Jennings said. With every bet, there is a risk. This time, the risk outweighed the reward. "There was no one here to shovel snow, this whole parking lot was covered," she continued. "The vendors have to park in that parking lot over there, so I was lugging my product all the way through. By 7:30, it was empty, we all, all the vendors, stepping out of our booths looking around, 'Where is everyone.'" Maryah Jennings is the owner of Herbs N’ Harlem, which sells homemade candles. Now, she's pulled out of this event she says she knows of four other vendors following her lead A claim was denied by a public relations representative for Jingle! The booth fee to be here was $1,300. In three days Jennings says she only brought in $300, for perspective, she did a pop-up event at J Rieger last week and in a shorter amount of time, sold more than $2,000 in candles.   Mexican restaurant owner expresses frustrations after weekend burglary She says that the people who are attending Jingle don't seem interested in shopping afterward because of their lackluster experiences. "This is my livelihood, this is all I have, this is what feeds my family,” she explained. While Jennings is happy about getting her money back, she says she still could not recommend the event to vendors in the future. We asked Jingle! for a statement, however, their PR firm says they opted to handle this issue directly with the vendor and did not plan to send a statement. The Jingle! holiday experience opens back up tomorrow night.
