GREENSBORO, N.C. (WGHP) -- A man is counting his blessings after he was shot in the neck in Greensboro.
He narrowly avoided death by a matter of inches.
Around 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, Timothy Davidson says he, his son and his dog were shot at.
He says it happened while he was driving along the 3100 block of Forest Lawn Drive in Greensboro.
"I heard some shots, and I heard some pops, and I told my son, 'Is that someone throwing something against the car,?'" Davidson said.
Davidson jumped out of the vehicle to investigate. He said he saw the shooting suspect who was wearing a gray hoodie run into the woods.
"I said, Did you throw something at my car?' And he turned around and looked and kept going. And I said, 'I'm going to set the K-9 loose.' He turned around and looked and seen that a dog was coming and pointed a gun at me and fired three shots. Two went through the window, and one caught me in the back of the neck. Still have a bullet lodged in the back of my neck. A quarter of an inch from my spine," Davidson said.
Davidson was taken to the hospital with bullet holes in his jacket.
"I'm kind of traumatized. Just knowing that you ain't supposed to be alive. It's definitely God. God is with me. He was with my son. We're blessed," Davidson said.
The 53-year-old says he drove from Marion to Greensboro on Sunday to have hip replacement surgery on Monday.
After the shooting, his surgery has been delayed.
Instead of stressing about his operation, Davidson is counting his blessings and has a message for the suspected shooter.
"I'm anointed. I'm chosen. The evidence is right here. You shot at me, but you didn't kill me. I'm still moving. I'm still grooving," Davidson said.
Davidson says he plans to see a spine specialist in the coming days to get the bullet removed.
Authorities say the shooting was random.
