GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – Preparations are underway across Wisconsin for when it's Titletown's turn to host the NFL Draft. Representatives from the NFL, including the Senior Vice President and head of event operations, were in town to learn the lay of the land and discuss what their time in Green Bay has meant so far. UW-Green Bay basketball coach clashes with Adam Schefter in viral social media exchange "It's hard for me to sit here and predict to you today exactly what's going to happen, but all you have to do is look at the history of the draft," said Jon Barker. "Tens of thousands of people show up and they want to be a part of the draft and that's the magic of the draft, that's what it is. It's the community of football coming together." Barker explained how no two drafts are the same and it takes months of planning and preparation to make it the best draft it can be in the host city. He said Green Bay is going to be a different experience entirely. "We start with a blank piece of paper, and then we figure it out, so a lot of the next few days is figuring it out together," he said. "Lambeau Field is known around the world, so to be able to be here and it's not just about being at Lambeau with the Packers. We're not just talking about football, it's also about this community." As they think about all that goes into preparing for the big event, Barker said they keep in mind the journey it takes each player and how they can make it an unforgettable experience for them. "To be able to be responsible for that and make that moment happen for them, for their families, for their communities, and have that happen here in Green Bay, I couldn't think of a better place." During the duration of their trip, the representatives will visit sites throughout the area and discuss what the draft will mean for local businesses and everyone in attendance.
