Richland Co., SC (WOLO) — The South Carolina Highway Patrol says they are still investigating a crash that claimed one life along McCord’s Ferry Road Tuesday morning. According to Master Trooper William Bennett with SCHP, there was only one car involved in the crash that took place just before 11:30 am.
Trooper Bennett says the 2013 Hyundai Elantra was traveling south along McCord’s Ferry Road when the driver of the car veered off the right side of the road, struck a set of railroad tracks before going down an embankment where the car then hit two trees and a utility pole.
Authorities say the passenger in the car was transported to Prisma Health Richland to be treated for their injuries. Officials say the driver of the car was pronounced dead on scene.
