Electors gather in Bismarck to cast ballots for Donald Trump

BISMARCK, N.D. (KXNET) — On Tuesday, December 17, North Dakota's presidential electors gathered to vote for Donald Trump once again.
The meeting happened at the state capitol, and was attended by Governor Kelly Armstrong. State Republicans chose Rick Becker, Kim Koppelma,n and state senator Jeff Magrum as North Dakota's three electors. Each was given a ballot, which they then filled out and signed for Trump and vice-president-elect JD Vance.

"Our founding fathers realized that it's important that the states elect, so that the power's distributed amongst the states," Becker states. "So, in a rural state like North Dakota, this is how we retain some of our power, some of our stature in the nation."
"It's happening in every capital in the United States at the same time today at 1:00 p.m., so it was really a very big honor to be part of that in a nationwide effort to put our new president in office," Magrum continued.
The House and Senate will next count and certify the electoral votes on January 6th in Washington, D.C. Magrum says even though he's also serving in the state legislature, he plans to attend the inauguration on January 20th.
