ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Dr. Michael Mendoza, the former Monroe County Commissioner of Public Health, was announced as one of the new members of Trillium Health's leadership team. Dr. Mendoza was appointed alongside Christopher Woodring to the leadership team. Dr. Mendoza will be the senior vice president and COO and Woodring will serve as vice president and Chief Pharmacy Officer. In March 2024, Dr. Mendoza stepped down as county health commissioner — a position he served since 2016 and throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. The reason behind his resignation was never revealed, but he did sign a non-disclosure agreement with the company. In a statement, Trillium Health said Dr. Mendoza's leadership during the pandemic, his work in addressing the opioid crisis, and his advocacy for health equity were some of the reasons behind his appointment. Meanwhile, Woodring has worked with Trillium since 2008 and has managed its in-house pharmacy and overseeing the integration of pharmacy and clinical services. "We are excited to welcome Dr. Mendoza and Christopher Woodring to our Executive Leadership Team," Trillium President and CEO Jason Barnecut-Kearns said in a statement. "Their extensive experience, strong leadership, and unwavering commitment to our mission will significantly enhance our ability to serve the community, particularly as we transition to a Federally Qualified Health Center."
