Santa to fulfill students' wish lists at 2 Fresno Unified schools

FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - Santa is set to visit two Fresno Unified schools this week to fulfill several students' wish lists, officials with Fresno Unified announced Tuesday.
The event is part of a tradition that officials say began more than a decade ago at the Kirk Elementary School, where students will practice their writing skills by writing letters to Santa and receive gifts from sponsors who read the letters to Santa.
When Principal Denise Romero moved from Kirk to Webster Elementary School, she introduced the tradition there. Fresno Unified says schools, teachers, community members, church groups, businesses and others come together to provide gifts for students, many of whom may not receive any other Christmas gifts.
“We are grateful for the support our community and employees provide the Santa Letter Writing Projects at both schools. These wonderful traditions make wishes come true for our students and the holidays more memorable,” Fresno Unified's Interim Superintendent Misty Her said.
Santa will provide gifts to students at Kirk Elementary School on Wednesday for preschool to second-grade students and Thursday for third-grade until sixth-grade students. At Webster Elementary School, students will receive gifts on Thursday.
