MARIPOSA, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A woman is dead and multiple people are injured following a car crash in Mariposa, the California Highway Patrol said. CHP says they responded to the collision near the Mariposa County Fairgrounds on Saturday around 3 p.m. According to officers the driver, identified as Alicia Osteen, was driving a Honda northbound along Highway 49, north of Varain Road. A Jeep was driving on the same road heading in the opposite direction toward Osteen. For reasons unknown, CHP says Osteen crossed the painted double yellow lines into the southbound lane before colliding with the Jeep. CHP reports Osteen sustained fatal injuries due to the crash. Multiple passengers from both vehicles were treated on scene by medical personnel and transported to a local hospital.
