Santa Ana winds peak Tuesday night with warming trend midweek

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) -- Santa Ana winds are back in the forecast. This event looks to be a bit weaker than earlier this month, but fire danger is still elevated.
Temperatures warmed up nicely early Tuesday afternoon under blue skies. Wednesday and Thursday will be the warmest days of the seven-day forecast with mid-70s for the coast, low 80s for inland valleys, low 70s for the mountains and 80s for the deserts.
Northeasterly Santa Ana winds will increase over the afternoon hours, peaking Tuesday night into early Wednesday. Gusts of 30 to 45 miles per hour could occur along and below the western side of the mountains.
Relative humidity will drop to 10% to 15% Wednesday, so conditions would spread a fire quickly if one were to spark.
Temperatures and winds will drop off as we get closer to the weekend. High pressure aloft will stick around but a couple of low pressure systems to our north will aid in the return of weak onshore flow for Saturday and Sunday.
