Christmas luncheon for veterans held in Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Springfield Partners for Community Action hosted a Christmas Luncheon for veterans.
The event was all about showing their appreciation for veterans and making sure that they can enjoy a warm traditional holiday meal as we get closer to Christmas. Springfield Partners provides veterans and their families throughout western Massachusetts with support services and access to financial assistance programs.

On Tuesday, the organization did not hesitate to show its appreciation for our country's heroes. John Chapman, a veteran who said these kinds of efforts are special to him and other veterans, "It is a very nice comfortable, relaxing afternoon. It helps us stay connected to everybody."
This is only one of many ways Springfield Partners is giving back to veterans in the community during the holiday season. On Thursday and Friday, they will be distributing about 50 coats of all sizes to veterans in need. The veterans will also get some toys for children in their households.
