Two families displaced after Fall River house fire

FALL RIVER, Mass. (WLNE) — The Fall River Fire Department said two families, comprising three adults and two children, have been displaced after a house fire on Dec. 16.
At 11:10 p.m., crews responded to reports of a structure fire on Montaup Street.
At the scene, firefighters saw a fire coming out of the first-floor windows of the two-family, wood-frame house.
Investigation showed the fire spread to the attic of the home prior to the crews arrival.
A little over three hours later, at 2:38 a.m., the fire was declared fully extinguished.
Car 2 remained on scene to make sure the fire was fully suppressed due to heavy smoke conditions.
Officials said the fire originated on the front porch.
The Fall River Fire Department is investigating the exact cause of the fire.
The American Red Cross has been called to help the two displaced families with temporary housing.
