NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Multiple sources have confirmed to the WAVY sports team that four-time NFL Pro Bowl quarterback and 757 and Virginia Tech football legend Michael Vick has officially accepted the head coaching position at Norfolk State. “It would be an honor” said Michael Vick of potential NSU job Reports indicate that Vick's top assistant coach will be Elton Brown, an NFL veteran and an All-American offensive lineman at the University of Virginia. Brown was also an assistant coach at the Apprentice School. Vick will inherit at Norfolk State team that's gone 15-30 over the last four seasons. The Spartans were with Dawson Odums since 2020, but was fired in November. The 757 standout had also been in talks with Sacramento State for its head football coaching job. Vick had an illustrious playing career, spanning his time at Warwick High School in Newport News, Virginia Tech, and multiple NFL teams, including the Atlanta Falcons, where he was the number one overall draft pick in 2001 and the Philadelphia Eagles, where he resurrected his playing career after a felony conviction for running a dogfighting operation in 2007, which sidelined his playing career in his prime. He served 18 months in prison before his time with the Eagles. He also had spells with the New York Jets and Pittsburgh Steelers.
