KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- An Independence man is sentenced for the death of a Cass County woman over three years ago.
Dale L. Williamson, 44, was sentenced Tuesday for the murder of 39-year-old Katie Kellen, of Raymore.

Kellen was found dead on July 7, 2021, at her home off South Lake Shore Drive in Raymore.
Williamson was charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action.
On Tuesday, a judge sentenced him to life without the possibility of parole for murder, plus 30 years.
“Hopefully, we can all sleep tonight. It’s caused a lot of sleepless nights,” Katie Kellen’s sister Kasey Patton shared with FOX4 Tuesday.
"He was a previous friend of hers that had come back into her life. He murdered her, shot her in the head, robbed her and then left her there in my Mom’s house,” Patton shared with FOX4 about the day her sister lost her life.

Kellen's sister, along with their parents and other relatives met with FOX4 and say this was an outcome they are pleased with.
“If you have that gut feeling, believe it. If you have doubts, believe it, because something like this could happen very easily. She had told many people that she was scared of him and things like that. If she would have just went with the gut feeling to stay away from him this wouldn't have happened,” Patton said. “Her love will live on forever.”
Family say Kellen had a lot of friends and she was a caregiver that worked as a CNA and helped take care of elderly people.
Williamson's sentences for the charges will run consecutively.
