INDIANAPOLIS — A semi crash closed Interstate 70 for roughly two hours after two trucks burst into flames and sent a large plume of black smoke into the sky.
The Indiana Department of Transportation said the fire occurred on I-70 eastbound near mile marker 98, just three miles east of Mt. Comfort Road.
According to Hancock County 911, the fire was the result of a crash involving two semi trucks. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
All eastbound lanes were closed with interstate traffic being diverted off at Mt. Comfort. The interstate was fully closed for roughly two hours.
Shortly before 5:30 p.m., eastbound traffic began skirting by the crash in the far left lane. Traffic remains extremely hindered by the crash as cleanup continues blocking most of the eastbound side of the interstate.
