MADISON, Wis. (WFRV) - A day after a deadly school shooting in southern Wisconsin, officials provided another update on the ongoing investigation. Authorities held a press conference on December 17 regarding an update to Monday's shooting at Abundant Life Christian School in Madison. A teacher and student died in the shooting, while six others were injured. During the release, Police Chief Shon Barnes said the department is looking for a motive and said it is their top priority. He did acknowledge a document that was going around on social media. The shooter was identified as 15-year-old Natalie Rupnow, who went by the name Samantha. She reportedly opened fire during a study hall, killing another student and a teacher, and wounding six others. Authorities said they are looking into Rupnow's online activity and her motivation appeared to have been a 'combination' of factors. Barnes did say 'everyone was targeted' during the attack. Madison Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway said they must allow law enforcement the time and space for a 'careful and methodical examination'.
