(COLORADO SPRINGS) — At only a week out from Christmas Eve, toy drives are starting to wrap up for the holiday season. The Widefield School District 3's Toy Drive ended on Tuesday, Dec. 17, with a very special visit from a very special man... Santa Clause. Sometimes even Santa needs a little bit of help, so he spent a day riding a school bus around the district to collect their donated toys. The district has been collecting toys since Thanksgiving. All of the presents go to children within the district after being dropped off at the local fire station. "There's a lack of community services down in this area, and so that partnership with them (the fire station) has helped a lot of our families," said Nikki Rose, a School Counselor in the District, "So it really is important that we are able to give back to our community and be able to do something local because most resources are up North and our families just can't get that far up North." The district says they'll be able to service 356 kids this year with all of the presents. Santa and his school bus also collected donations from the Security Public Library, Widefield Parks and Recreation, and the Fountain Valley Senior Center.
