BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) -- Greenlight Networks, an internet provider that most recently expanded into North Buffalo, has announced it is beginning construction in the City of Tonawanda.
Over 5,500 homes in the city are expected to have service as early as February 2025.
Construction has already begun in neighborhoods between Two Mile Creek Road and Young Street. Utility pole work is underway while fiber cable installation is expected to begin shortly thereafter.
Greenlight Networks boasts speeds of up to eight gigabytes on their website.
"At a time when so many families are feeling the financial squeeze, having an affordable and reliable option for an essential piece of infrastructure is more than welcome here," said Mayor of the City of Tonawanda John White. "I look forward to hearing from residents about their experience with Greenlight Networks."
The provider currently services North Tonawanda, the east and west side of Buffalo, Cheektowaga, and the Village of Lancaster.
