HANOVER COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- In January, Hanover County residents will have access to naloxone through its new Naloxone by Mail Program. Naloxone is used to quickly reverse an opioid overdose by restoring breathing in an emergency. According to the county, residents can request naloxone by mail beginning in January by filling out an online form. In addition to the mail program, the county said two REVIVE! Naloxone Training and Opioid Education sessions are scheduled in early 2025. These are hour-long virtual classes that help folks learn to recognize and respond to opioid overdoses using naloxone. The county said classes well be held over Zoom from 6 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 23 and Thursday, Feb. 27. To register, email [email protected] or call 804-955-7019. The Naloxone by Mail Program comes through a collaborative effort between the Hanover County Community Services Board and the Chickahominy Health District and Hanover Opioid Task Force.
