Dear Editor,In response to your story about Vermont English Bulldog Rescue (I am the founder of the rescue):I could not have asked for better legal representation for myself, my family and for the rescue. I say that not because we prevailed, but rather because good lawyering — based on fact, matched with the law and executed with integrity and honesty — won out. This journey has been long and painful. It exacted a cost personally that can never be repaired. Additionally, it showed me a grim side of human nature that I want to unsee but can’t. READ MORE The other side would like to be seen as just average folks defending their rights, nothing more. That is a small piece of the equation and, in and of itself, valid. However, real intent is determined by the size of the weapon used in that defense. Theirs was a finely honed sword swung in a sweeping and cataclysmic manner to extract the most damage, not just to the rescue, but to me personally. This was a David-and-Goliath situation from day one.The fact that Vermont English Bulldog Rescue not only survived, but thrived, in the face of it is testament to the work that we do.
