CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — At least one middle school student was injured after their school bus was struck by gunfire in east Charlotte Monday afternoon.  According to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police, the incident occurred around 4 p.m. on Idlewild Road North near the Albemarle Road Recreation Center. When officers arrived, they discovered an Infiniti vehicle and Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools bus had each been shot into.   North Carolina parent attacks, strangles student in high school hallway, officials say There were 30 students from Albemarle Road Middle School on board when the shooting occurred. The injured student(s) were treated on scene with glass cuts.  Officers made an arrest from the incident, described by CMS officials as "a dispute outside the bus." but a suspect’s name has not been released. The shooting remains under investigation.  Albemarle Middle Principal Toni Perry sent the following statement to parents: "It is natural to feel anxious or frightened by incidents like this. Our crisis counselors will be on campus tomorrow if students need support. Resources for speaking to your child about violence are linked below. The safety and well-being of our students and staff is our number one priority. Thank you for your continued support of Albemarle Road Middle School." CMS officials say another bus arrived to take the remaining students home.
